This spring, Philadelphia’s Department of Parks and Recreation and the Mayor’s Office of Transportation, Infrastructure, and Sustainability (OTIS) selected three design firms to participate in an “Ideas Workshop” to reimagine the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, focusing on improving the pedestrian experience. The selected terms were Design Workshop, DLANDstudio + DIGSAU, and MVRDV. Coordinated by the Lindy Institute for Urban Innovation at Drexel, the workshop was kicked off on June 9, and the designers presented their work on July 14. The City is now selecting one of the teams to take the project forward.
Harris Steinberg will join David Brownlee to explain, analyze, and evaluate the three proposals, and they will invite the audience to join the discussion. You can preview the three proposals, as presented on July 14, here.
