In sync with the celebration of the centennial of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, David Brownlee has prepared a new edition of his Building the City Beautiful: The Benjamin Franklin Parkway and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. He'll share some of his new research about what was there before demolition, the role played by Julian Abele in Horace Trumbauer's office, the real story of the art museum design, the hidden history of the Academy of Natural Sciences, and the rivalrous relationship of two French architects, Paul Cret and Jacques Gréber.
