Barnes & Calder together on the Parkway, 100 years in the making

William McDowell (Bill) is an independent consultant who provides executive project management for complex projects and strategic initiatives. He has worked across the public and private sectors on a wide range of project types throughout Philadelphia.

With more than 45 years of experience in design, construction, and real estate development, Bill has contributed to numerous flagship projects, including the 30th Street Station railyards, the Pennsylvania Convention Center, the Barnes Foundation, Calder Gardens, National Development’s East Market development and many other unique assignments.

Beyond his project work, Bill remains active in Philadelphia’s civic and cultural community. He chairs the Louis Kahn Memorial Lecture for the Center for Architecture, advises the Strawberry Mansion Learning Center, and serves on an advisory committee for the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Bill began his career as a licensed architect in a family-based practice before moving into project management, the field that became his professional focus.
