What

DAG is excited to welcome Scott Sauer, General Manager of SEPTA, for a presentation on Accelerate, SEPTA’s bold new vision for the future of transit in Greater Philadelphia. Announced this fall, Accelerate is a long-range modernization program that outlines major investments in stations, vehicles, accessibility, and service improvements designed to create a safer, more reliable, and more connected transit system for the region.

During his presentation, Scott will share how Accelerate seeks to transform mobility across the region over the next decade, including plans for new trolley and subway fleets, more frequent service, and enhancements that would bring high-quality transit within reach of millions more residents and jobs. The initiative is designed not only to improve the rider experience, but also to strengthen workforce access, economic competitiveness, and quality of life throughout southeastern Pennsylvania.

For Philadelphia’s development community, Accelerate raises important questions about growth, investment, placemaking, and the connection between transportation and economic development. Join DAG to hear directly from Scott about SEPTA’s vision for the future, followed by an audience Q&A on the opportunities and challenges ahead for building a world-class transit system and region.

This event will be held on Zoom. For online events, registration is required. Please visit the RSVP link below to complete your registration.

Presenter

Scott Sauer

Scott A. Sauer serves as General Manager of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA), the nation’s sixth-largest public transit system and the largest in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  A second-generation transit professional, Scott began his career as a SEPTA trolley operator at age 19 and has spent more than three decades advancing through the organization into senior leadership roles, including oversight of System Safety and Operations. After serving as interim General Manager, Scott was named to the permanent position in 2025.

As General Manager, Scott oversees a $2.7 billion budget and a workforce of 9,500 employees dedicated to delivering safe, reliable and customer-focused transit service throughout southeastern Pennsylvania – a five-county region home to five million people.  Today, SEPTA’s six transit modes provide 800,000 daily trips, connecting riders to work, school, essential services, and opportunity while supporting the region’s role as the economic engine for Pennsylvania.

Scott has led SEPTA through one of the most challenging periods in its history and is driving its recovery with a back-to-basics focus on safety, reliability, and customer service. By advancing internal efficiencies, developing new revenue streams, improving signage throughout the system and delivering more reliable service, the Authority supports major global events, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the United States Semiquincentennial, and is positioned for a best-in-class future.
